Hi, my name is Annie Byrne (she/her) I’m a third-year visual arts student. I am primarily a painter but have recently been working on sculpture and installation. My festival work is an installation piece incorporating wall hangings, tables, and floor pieces using plywood and acrylic. The artwork I make is bright and vivid, looking at irregular shapes, pattern, and the overall aesthetic. More recently I have been focusing on functional art pieces, I like how art can serve another purpose. Due to the pandemic, I’ve been working at home more, it’s pushed me to look at the different ways to present works and it has allowed me to gain a clearer understanding of the type of artist I am and the work I want to produce. After the festival, I will be finishing my visual art degree and starting a Masters of Art Therapy.
